東急線沿線にはたくさんの寺社仏閣がありますが、その中で特徴ある彫刻がある場所をご紹介します。
新丸子駅から5分弱のところにある「京浜伏見稲荷神社」
戦後の復興を祈願して、京都にある有名な伏見稲荷大社からの勧請により創建された神社です。
日本最大級、高さ14mの大鳥居をくぐると、朱色が鮮やかな社殿と鳥居が目に入ってきます。
こちらの特徴ある彫刻は境内に108体も置かれている神狐像。本殿前の両脇にびっしりと置かれた狐像はすごい迫力です。一体一体が違う表情やポーズをしていて、親子や夫婦と思われるペアもいます。108体いるか数えてみたいですね。

There are many Buddhist temples to find along the Tokyu lines, but in today’s highlight we’ll share a spot that’s famous for its exquisite sculptures.
Take not even a 5 min. walk from Shin-maruko Station to find Keihin Fushimi Inari-Jinja, a shrine built after its famous counterpart, Fushimi Inari Shrine in Kyoto, as an effort to revitalize the area after the war. Standing at 14 meters, it’s home to one of Japan’s tallest torii gates, which leads to the ornate, vermillion red hall and torii gates inside. This shrine is famous for its many “kitsune” fox gods statues, 108 of which you can find inside the shrine grounds today. Flanked on both sides, the walk up to the main hall is lined with a procession of kitsune sculptures, giving it a grand look and feel. Each face is sculpted with a new expression, with a few that look like pairs of parents with their children or coupled foxes together. You might just catch yourself trying to find all 108 foxes for yourself! (Tokyu Toyoko Line | Shin-maruko Station).
