The solidarity of so many coming together to stand with the black community to fight for change has been overwhelming. I feel it in my bones, that a change is upon us. And I’m thrilled to hear the voices of so many deserving black creators rising up. My feed is now filled with the most beautiful imagery from creators and black owned brands I didn’t know existed, and I’ve never felt more inspired than right now. Let’s keep this movement moving forward until real equality is found and people are no longer scared to come face to face with the people who are sworn to protect us. . What have I been doing? I’ve been watching documentaries and listening to podcasts and consuming video after video, trying to educate myself even more so. I’ve donated to charities, I’ve signed petitions for George’s family and for Black Lives Matter and for the updating of U.K. school curriculum. I’ve written two blog posts for my audience - to raise more awareness of outstanding black creators that I resonate with, and also of 101+ black owned businesses that I want to be shopping at. I’ve been sharing resources and information on my stories, as well as sharing my favourite black creators. I’ve also been having important conversations with family members, friends and my husband, as well as with my team, daily, to work out how we can do better. . But what am I doing next? I’ll be asking to see the guest lists of events and trips that I attend to ensure they are fully inclusive. I will ensure my future endeavours are diverse and inclusive. They would always have been, I’m just adding this to let you know, I have exciting plans and inclusivity has long been top priority. I’ll speak louder against those who I hear using words or phrases or any derogatory terms against those who are black. I’ll be teaching my child, from an early age, to love everyone for the content of their heart, not for the colour of their skin. I’ll be active in the fight, in the story telling and the amplification of black voices. I’ll continue to adore and respect those of all races and religions, the way I always have.
