If you want to help, start by educating yourself on why police brutality is an issue that you need to understand in the first place. Learn what policies need to be changed. Educate yourself on ending stop and frisk, decriminalizing crimes that do not threaten public safety, removing barriers to reporting police misconduct, establishing standards for reporting deadly force, ending high speed chases, accounting for deadly force usage, lowering standards of proof in civil rights cases, recruiting police officers who represent their demographic of their communities, constant filming of police, rigorous police training, improving police officers’ yearly wages, demilitarization, ensuring financial accountability for officers that kill or seriously injure civilians, and ending policing for profit (forbidding property seizures, limiting fines for low-income citizens). Speak up when you have that feeling that someone is being mistreated because of their race. Listen when you see a black friend having a hard time with society. Start with your own community. But whatever you do, don’t give up. Think to yourself, what if it was my black friend who was unjustly murdered? And keep that energy as long as you can. @mayorsteveadler @mayorhenderson」6月1日 22時51分 - kishi_bashi
