Around 1950, there were no telephones, you couldn’t exactly call or push the buttons in App in an order.
Deliverymen devolved a skilled technique for stacking towers of Soba noodle bowls and then carrying them on a bike to places like universities where they had frequent customers.

The third photo is from soba shops that are still in business today!
He is 2nd generation owner of Sunabahonten #砂場本店 soba shop (has been since 1923). The store is located in Mitaka Tokyo.

Anyway, I give applause to all health care worker and delivery staff. Of course Uber Eats deliverymen of these days too!
