The hills are alive with wild flowers!  My foraging journeys continues, this time out of my backyard. I met up with floral designer and collaborator @isaisafloral in the canyons of Malibu near her home this week. We collected bunches of wild mustard, wild castor and echium. The gorgeous bright yellow flowers of the mustard plants are edible and make bountiful bouquets of sunshine for back home. They are also inherently invasive to the hillside and ideal for cutting, especially from the roots, allowing space for native plants to grow. When the wild mustard is left untouched it dries out over the summer and becomes fire fuel. I’ve learned so much from Sophia on these hikes. It’s so important to be connected to the natural world for a greater sense of well-being. XK
