This material is made essentially from volcanic rocks that are left behind by lava known as Basalt. This material which was tested alongside Aerospace companies was refined by Panerai to create this new Matte Grey material. These mineral fibers are a fusion of the Basalt rocks and polymers that create thin layers which are superimposed in a precise orientation and then cut. Leaving no two watches with the same pattern much like the Carbotech. I have to say the material looks slick in pictures but I need to really see these in person to decide for certain.
