私は、人生において、たくさんの大切なことを映画を通して学だように思っています。他者を受け入れるためのヒントや、自分でもわかっていなかった自分の事、世代の違う人の考え方、文化の違う人達との繋がりかた。

美しいということ、醜いということ、愛するということ、生きるということ、
そんなことが、いろんなありかたで、この世界に有るということ。

私は、独りぼっちではないということ、
生きていてもいいんだということ。

もちろん目の前には抱きしめあえる家族や友人達、恋人、猫、犬、小鳥、
近隣の方々、いろんな人達が、具体的にいます。目の前の世界があります。

たくさんのそういうのを、映画を通して、演劇を通し、音楽を通し、あらゆる表現活動を通して、もっと理解したり、いろんな生き方の人達と一緒に生きていくんだっなって、覚悟とかを改めて心に思ったり、そしてまた再び目の前にいる人達や、遠くの人達と世界を共有することで、わたしの芯は温かく強くしなやかになり、未来への光をみつけます。そして、そんことを必要としている人と再び共有したくなったりします。

We are all in this together. And we can all do our bit.

As we are headed for uncertain times, we want to take a moment to talk about the cinemas and film institutions that are affected by the current situation. Whether in New York, Berlin, São Paulo or in a small town somewhere in Italy: Their work is so important and it is vital that they will still be there once we return to normal. Please take a moment to check out if there is a way to help your local cinema. Many of them have membership options, ticket books or gift cards. Also check if your local community's film festival, which perhaps had to cancel or postpone, needs support. And if there is a film that you wanted to see but cannot due to the closures, see if you can support it in any other way. A lot of folks are finding amazing solutions to continue to give safe access to culture, which is so important at the moment.

We believe in the power and the remarkable spirit of the film community. We see it every year here in Berlin. We can do this. We just have to take care of each other. ❤️
