On paper @therealnoreaga ‘s “Banned From TV” reads like a 90’s underground science experiment with it’s mash up of NY artists, but in real life it’s quite possibly the best posse cut (featuring 6 emcees or more) of all time.
What do you expect when 6 of NY’s most venerable neighborhood heroes collaborate on a classic synth-powered Swizz Beats track. From Firm affiliate Nature to the late Bronx Terror Squadian Big Pun, Harlem Mayor Cam’rom and Yonkers’ own Jadakiss and Styles P, this line up was the sonic version of the Yankees Murderers Row.
From the opening line “Regardless of rain or snow, sleet or hail I kick street tales, choking n****’s like I’m Sprewell,” Nature sets the tone for the rest of the crew to pop off. It’s befitting that each guest blasts their way through the song, passing the burner off to the next MC with no hook in between. There isn’t room for anything other than more aggressive NY braggadocio rap.
