While we know she was captive bred (not wild caught), we dont have a lot of information about where her parents came from and how removed they are from the wild. In the US, some people purchase foxes as pets from exotic animal breeders. These breeders can also be fur farmers 😡 or exotic animal breeders. It isn’t always known where they obtain their “breeding pairs”- and many come from fur farmers. 😡 and it wouldn’t surprise me if some are actually wild caught 😡. . So, you have foxes bred for many generations for coat quality and color (not temperament) and some potentially wild caught being bred and sold as pets to people. Like many wild animals or those that haven’t been domesticated for tameness, you don’t really know what you are getting from a health, personality perspective AND you usually won’t know about their temperament until they reach sexual maturity. I have seen some very very young foxes act very aggressive towards their owners.... and I have seen them be pretty sweet and then one day become not very sweet.... but you will get bit..and I’m not talking love nibbles.... so, where does Libby fit within this matrix. Libby tended to be a bit more fearful as a kit. We got her when she was about 5 months old and while she was bottled fed & raised by humans and socialized with humans, she was still very fearful and bitey. When she went thru sexual maturity.... yikes!!!!! Holy little demon child!!!! Dave was the only one brave enough to handle her... the Russian foxes were like “who brought crazy to this party?”!!! I was thinking, great.... gonna need a shark suit just to interact with this one!!! She mellowed out after her first season, but she continues to be very very fearful of everything new - including new people. Her instinct is to sneak up and bite the new thing. She is very very different than our Russian domesticated foxes, who are super curious about new things without the fear component. Their confidence actually helps Libby become a bit more confident! @dandeliondreamsphoto」1月29日 8時15分 - jabcecc
