The is Op-po-noos, The Children's Chief. His photograph is one of the earliest known photos of Native Americans.
Thomas Easterly and John Fitzgibbons captured photographs like this one when Native Americans delegates traveled to Washington to meet with U.S. government officials. The U.S. government often brought representatives of Indian tribes to the U.S. capital to exhibit the power of the nation and to ratify treaties.
