🎎Traditional Japanese porcelain dolls with a contemporary twist. The art of Hakata dolls began in Fukuoka Prefecture more than 400 years ago. Given as celebratory gifts and charms, today, few artisans can create them using only the traditional techniques. Fourth-generation doll maker, Hiromine Nakamura, wanted to pass down the skill and connect the dolls to the present. Thinking about what bygone masters would make if they travelled to modern times, he's created an eclectic mix of old-style, yet contemporary dolls including baseball and football players. ⚾🏈
