This spring, @nycballet dancer and choreographer Silas Farley brought fellow members of the New York City Ballet—and the audience—on a journey through our galleries, led by traditional spirituals and new songs created by current inmates at San Quentin State Prison who, through the podcast @earhustlesq, contributed music for the performance, offering a nuanced view of an exiled population, and the irrepressible human drive to create. The result was "Songs from the Spirit," a #MetLiveArts performance inspired by The Met collection.
🎥 Watch the full performance—plus listen to more of the amazing music written and performed by men inside San Quentin on the Ear Hustle Podcast—at the link in bio.
