In 1643 Scholar Hayashi Gaho named Itsukushima Shrine in Hiroshima Prefecture as one of the top 3 views in Japan. Pictured here tonight this view seems imperfect due to the scaffolding but I see this as a perfect reflection of Japan today - constant renovation, demolition and construction in time for the 2020 Olympics.

In the month that marks the 74th anniversary of the dropping of the atomic bomb it's important not just to remember the terrible things that have happened in the past but equally important to celebrate the beauty we have today. It's everywhere. #厳島神社  #広島県
