the Nicaraguan artist exploring a truckload of history in his country. 'I am interested in understanding my own society. There’s no one way to understand it.'
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The artist's recent work, Auras of War, documents and explores the Nicaraguan revolution. The work is made up of a truck, a section of concrete wall, video and other materials. It has travelled a great distance, both geographically and symbolically, to get to Tate Modern.

I think the Sandino history was just a convenient story that was used to give this "freedom fighters" against the Somoza dictatorship an identity and get internationally known and helped. But today what is left ................. as people in the street shout: ORTEGA Y SOMOZA; ES LA MISMA COSA😥

Growing up in East Germany I remember those trucks being left everywhere by the soviets after their collapse. It was weird to see one in the tate instead of left in the woods to rot. My friend didn't understand why I was so stoked of a truck 😁

This has to be one of my favourite pieces of artwork @tate at the moment. I’m inspired and energised by the beauty of this piece.
