Pauline Murray and The Invisible Girls.
This weekend you can catch Pauline Murray and Penetration at the 100 Club this Friday. Formed in 1976 Penetration are one of these greats from the original British punk scene> Although the original band dissolved in 1979, they were back in 2001 to stay. After the disbandment Pauline went on a solo career and one of her first projects was with the Invisible Girls. The Invisible Girls had been formed in 1978 as the musical backing to Salford punk poet John Cooper Clarke. Headed by Martin Hannett a myriad of stars, many from the Manchester scene, made up the band including the late Pete Shelley from the Buzzcocks and Vini Reilly of Durutti Column.
The Line up for Pauline Murray and the Invisible Girls included Martin Hannett, Steve Hopkins, Paul Burgess and Murray’s boyfriend Robert Blamire.
