The Skin Appeal | How much skin is acceptable to show at work? My first law firm had strict guidelines on this, such as skirts should be just above or below the knees. I never agreed with this backwards approach to monitoring what is acceptable work wear. You can look professional in the office and still express yourself through the way you dress. Like this @roland_mouret blazer. The peekaboo back is oh so chic, but looks perfectly professional. It's not about how much skin in cm is exposed, it's how you wear the garment and whether you look appropriate that matters. #workwearstyle

tentaquiggle Such an interesting topic!! I feel that while for men, business standards are obvious (suit and tie), for women they're a little all over the place. I see blouses, dresses, blazers in the board room... and different people have different expectations. My colleague was telling me that he believes open toe shoes are inappropriate because people don't want to see toes. If blew my mind. Who's focusing on toes at work?! By the same standard I don't think a blazer like yours would fly in a finance firm or law firm... too sexy. I love it though.

marikokuo @nickymywishstyle yes, but I think most guidelines are very old fashioned and quite sexist. I think guidance on what is work appropriate is necessary especially when you're a junior first starting out. That being said, I think there are ways to do this instead of archaic do's and don'ts. Think work wear should be fluid and fluid through time and changing styles ? So glad you like this blazer Lovely!

marikokuo @tentaquiggle I agree. Women's workwear can be a bit all over the place. I do however believe most guidelines aimed at women are still very old fashioned and way too specific (like your example with open toes). So glad you like my blazer though ?

marikokuo @luxmumma I think law firms are one of the worst in the City. Unfortunately, it's still a very male dominated workplace and so guidelines haven't updated as quickly as some other industries. Hopefully this will change soon ✨?✨
