One of its most famous residents, Beau Brummell, soon became responsible for establishing tailored dress and the wearing of trousers and neckties. Gentlemen’s clubs started to multiply from the 1800s, and became places where you could always bank on a friendly face, stimulating conversation, a decent meal and where members were, of course, suitably outfitted.
