I also grew up Mormon with my dad. So I’ve had a lot a religious perspective in my youth. All though I never stopped believing, I definitely didn’t commit my life 100% to God. I was one of those guys that whenever things were really bad. Like going to jail, crashing my bike and laid up in the hospital, or divorced ect ect. I would always pray super hard for god to find me a way out of this. It was how I “coped” like you said. Meanwhile my life was pretty miserable, several failed relationships and after buying several Ferrari’s. The void in my life could never be filled. A few years ago I realized that that 100% commitment is what my life was missing all along. Now I’m at church every single Sunday. It’s no coincidence that my marriage is thriving, my kids are doing awesome, and my work/creativity is the best it’s ever been. Also I’ve only missed church a couple times in the last few years. I can really tell the difference in the way I feel during the week. I actually need that hour on Sunday. It’s also a great way to do something together with your family that’s positive and uplifting. So don’t think that making this choice is just for “coping”. It is for everything! Don’t be a dummy like I was and dabble in it. Go for it all the way. You won’t be sorry. **You will also notice in the comments on this very post there will be lots of naysayers. They will tell you that “god is not real” or “he’s just imaginary”, and “church is useless”, or they are “Ashiest”. Pay no attention to them. I actually snicker at them because you know when times are really really bad for them. Like when their mom is on her deathbed. They are the first ones right down on a knee saying “please Please GOD help her to get better”. They are not fooling anyone. Just a bunch of undercover “copers” #jessejames」4月29日 4時33分 - popeofwelding
