Today’s #MetCameo comes from @mandy.gonzalez, who shares the personal connection she feels with an Aztec sculpture: “When I was a little girl my father always told us we were descendants of ‘Aztec warriors.’ Whether or not that story is true, being a Mexican American it made me feel proud. There is so little I know about that time. Looking at this kneeling female in the Ancient Americas gallery, I am filled with so much wonder. To me, this sculpture embodies beauty and strength. It reminds me of the women in my family."
Artwork: Kneeling Female Figure, 15th–early 16th century. #Aztec. Stone, pigment. On view in Gallery 358. #TheMet
