J.P. Morgan Chase is bracing for a possible economic slowdown, but doesn’t expect a recession, the bank's CEO Jamie Dimon wrote.
Dimon warned about over-regulation, saying big institutions like J.P. Morgan wouldn’t be able to provide big loans in a financial crisis like they did in 2008 and 2009.
“Effectively, some new rules will force capital to the sidelines just when it might be needed most by clients and the markets," he wrote.
Dimon defended stock buybacks, calling them an essential part of allocating capital. Critics have said they pad investors’ pockets.
