The frozen magic of mysterious Lake Mashu! Considered Japan’s clearest lake, its winter temperature can plunge to minus 30 degrees Celsius. Moisture freezes in the air, creating diamond dust, while a transparent ice sheet almost 50 cm thick forms on its surface. 💧❄ With a circumference of around 20 km, the lake was formed when a volcanic crater gradually filled with water and melted snow. Kamuishu, the small island you can see peeking through the lake’s surface, is actually a volcano summit! 🌋
