Between groceries, gas and going out, Americans cough up a lot of dough in a single day — $164.55, on average, in fact. But depending on your age, those figures can very greatly.⠀
⠀
When broken down by age group, millennials spent more than every other generation overall, particularly on clothing and eating out.⠀
⠀
Younger Gen Xers, age 35 to 44, spent more on housing and groceries, whereas older Gen Xers, between the ages of 45 and 54, spent the most on utilities.⠀
⠀
Older baby boomers — those ages 65 and up — spent more on health insurance, averaging nearly $13 a day.⠀
⠀
Overall, Americans spend the most on housing, followed by groceries, utilities and health insurance.⠀
