In the latest defeat for Johnson & Johnson, which is facing more than 13,000 similar lawsuits, the company has been ordered to pay $29 million to a woman who claims its products caused her cancer.
J&J denies allegations that its talcum powder causes cancer, saying numerous studies and tests by regulators worldwide have shown that its talc is safe and asbestos-free. But the company’s track record in court has proven otherwise.
Johnson & Johnson shares are down .8% during trading on Thursday, although the stock is up nearly 4% over the past 12 months.
