The Navy’s new F-35C fighter jets are ready for action, the Department of Defense announced. That makes the Navy the third and final branch of the military to declare the jets ready for war.
Created by Lockheed Martin, the F-35s have become one of the most challenged programs in Pentagon history due to a number of setbacks.
However, the stealth fighter jets are now “ready for operations, ready for combat and ready to win,” Commander of Naval Air Forces Vice Admiral DeWolfe Miller said.
And the stealth fighter jets came at a lofty price. The acquisition cost is valued at $406.5 billion.
