Legendary investor Warren Buffett has long been a supporter of low-cost index funds. He’s said they’re “the thing that makes the most sense practically all of the time.”
Index funds are a form of non-passive investing, holding every stock in an index. The S&P 500 is an example, owning companies like Apple, Microsoft and Google.
And according to Buffett, if you had invested $10,000 in the S&P 500 in 1942, it would have made you a pretty penny — about $51 million.
