from the moment we saw her “how to” series on instagram, we’ve been fans of @olivialocher the photographer and the woman. so when we asked her if she’d do a series of self-portraits for us, we had a feeling the results would be, like her, fun, incisive and a little surreal. “there’s not really a difference between olivia the artist and olivia the person,” she explained over chai turmeric tea, her favorite hot beverage, in her living room on manhattan’s east side. “i live and work from home, my models are my friends. everything i do is related.” she wasn’t exaggerating. this video took 3 days (and nights) to shoot in the living room, where her brother, brandon, also happens to sleep. “the flash went off every 10 minutes for 3 nights straight,” he chimed in. “but I didn’t mind.” pictured here, our margaux spade stud medium satchel.
