Our new collection, including this card will be online next week - stay tuned! There is so much to love and respect about whales. Truly majestic, they are a diverse and widespread group of marine mammals, evolved over 50 million years ago from land mammals. Pictured here on our new "Hi Whale" card is the sperm whale, the largest of the toothed whales. Sperm whales are bigger than transit busses, 35-45 tons on average, and they can live up to 70 years. Sperm whales are considered an endangered species under the United States Endangered Species Act. Entanglement in fishing nets and collisions with ships is one of their greatest threats. Other threats include ingestion of marine debris, ocean noise, and chemical pollution. As a company we are mindful of what we produce, primarily using unbleached, natural linen for our products, avoiding the harsh chemicals found in fabric dyes. We pack and ship with care using recycled and sustainable packaging. Last year we sourced cardboard boxes with Sustainable Forestry Initiative Certification, switched to a water activated carton sealing tape made from renewable materials, recyclable and biodegradable. We are highly conscious of any use of plastics and have sourced compostable bags for packing orders and items like our embroidered cards.
