Onbase Island, one of the satellite islands of Kozu Island, is a small uninhabited island just about 0.04 square kilometers (0.015 square miles). Onbase Island is also called the "Sea-lion Island" for it used to be a habitat of Japanese sea-lions.
Now, it is designated as a special protection zone, and known as an important breeding site for Japanese murrelets.
