#WorkoftheWeek: Tacita Dean's 2006 photograph features one of the largest and oldest complete oak trees in England. The area surrounding the tree’s branches and trunk has been over painted with white gouache, isolating its structure and form.
The work's title 'Majesty' is derived from the name of the tree, also known as the Fredville Oak, after the estate in Kent where it has been growing for centuries alongside two smaller giant oaks, known as Beauty and Stately. ?
