#CHERRYGATE #UPDATE #?I’ve been overwhelmed by yesterday’s influx of supportive comments so, after my previous post, I wanted to present the story in words and pictures. My point here, @anna_dello_russo, is that #togetherwearestronger. #AdR wore the cherries at Gucci, AdR wore my hats at events, shot them for @VOGUE JAPAN and we worked on many ideas together - from adapting my Hollywood headpieces to spell out her name, to making pieces in exclusive colour-ways for her personal collection. But the name of the buyer in #Milan who introduced my work to AdR started to appear in print. Alan Journo has stated in interviews that there is no #cherrygate and I am the designer and maker. On the plus side: I love seeing my reinterpretation of an 80’s logo become a new icon. It’s so #AndyWarhol!
NOTE: this post was edited on 27 January after a conversation between myself and Anna about the importance of creativity, passion, crediting, respect and about the lack of control and the spreading of misinformation on the internet. We spoke about art, friendship and reputation and about our roles in our changing industry. And we both agreed that we should set a positive example online. She didn’t ask me to but I wanted to edit this post as a result of our conversation.
