Tsumago-juku is one of the post towns of the Nakasendo.

The Wakihonjin Okuya, one of the town’s important and historical inns, is especially popular. On clear days in winter, the noontime sun shines through the slits of the inn’s wooden lattices over the irori hearth, creating a beautiful spectacle.
