Happy Kwanzaa! Created in 1966, during the Black Power movement by activist and professor Dr. Maulana Karenga, Kwanzaa celebrates the impact of African heritage in African American culture. This week, stop by Soul of a Nation and see plenty of examples of the holiday’s seven core principles: umoja (unity), kujichagulia (self-determination), ujima (collective work and responsibility), ujamaa (cooperative economics), nia (purpose), kuumba (creativity), and imani (faith).⠀
