Ce panneau figure la contre-attaque de Micheletto da Cotignola conduisant Florence à la victoire.

Micheletto, le personnage principal, se trouve au milieu de la composition. Il est le seul cavalier dont le visage est à découvert et monte le seul cheval à la robe d’un noir intense.

Passionné de la géométrie et des théories d’optique, Uccello intègre le mazzocchio dans le couvre-chef traditionnel florentin. Il reproduira ce motif dans de nombreuses œuvres peintes et dessinées.

L’enjeu principal de ce panneau est sans doute le mouvement. Uccello, réussit à créer l'illusion d'un mouvement général, rythmé par les lances et les pattes des chevaux.
? Cette œuvre, qui a intégré la collection du marquis Campana au 19e siècle, sera exposée du 7 novembre 2018 au 11 février 2019 dans le Hall Napoléon du musée du Louvre !

This panel shows the counterattack by Florence's ally Micheletto da Cotignola which lead them to victory.

Micheletto, the main character, is in the center of the composition. He is the only knight whose face is uncovered and has the only horse with an intense black coat.

For Ucello this tangle seems to be an exercise in satisfying his obsession with representation of pure form according to the laws of optics. The main features are a host of foreshortenings and the presence of "mazzochi", Florentine hats whose different aspects the artist describes in minute detail. He will reproduce this geometrical form in many works.

The main theme of this panel is certainly the movement. Uccello successfully creates the illusion of an overall impetus orchestrated by the lances and the horses' hooves.
? This work, which integrated the collection of the Marquis Campana in the 19th century, will be exhibited from November 7, 2018 to February 11, 2019 at the Louvre’s Napoleon Hall!
