In January this year, Holly Butcher’s family kindly allowed us to publish Holly’s writings posthumously on the @SamanthaWillsFoundation. It is often difficult to find the right words to use when someone is experiencing grief. I have come to learn that you don’t really get over grief, but you somehow find a way to live alongside, to co-exist. ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ Holly’s article has received over 11million views and almost 6000 comments. So in looking for the words for Holly’s family, we used… YOURS. ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ We pulled as many comments as we could fit into a book. Your stories on how Holly impacted your life, how her words made you be become more present, or how her request for more people to donate blood saw you do so. We compiled your comments, condolences, stories and love into this book and titled it ‘How Holly Changed The World’ and sent it to her family this week. ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ I wanted to let you know this, because the internet is not anonymous. ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ The words we use have impact. Comments posted are not sent off into the ether, they have as much meaning as if you said it to someone in-person conversation. It’s powerful, and its important. ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ I also wanted to let you know this to thank each of you who graciously shared with kindness, love and thoughtfulness. From all over the world your words of love have been printed and sent to Holly’s family in the small town of Grafton, NSW this week, your sharing’s a beautiful reminder for them on the impact Holly continues to make here. ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ Thank you to the Butcher family for granting us permission to share Holly’s letter, and thank you to everyone who commented, your love is being passed on. – SWx ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ —- Thank you to Katie Northwood and Alicia Neldner at SWHQ who managed the layout and print of this book with such love and thoughtfulness. ⠀⠀
