“The Banquet of Seowangmo (Ch. Xiwangmu), Queen Mother of the West” is one of two folding screens on view depicting imaginary gatherings from Chinese legends. Seowangmo is holding a grand banquet that happened every three thousand years when the peach trees blossomed. Seowangmo is enthroned in the middle of the painting, amid ripened peaches. Music and dance are performed by Daoist fairies and phoenixes in front of the queen. These are just a couple of detail photos from the folding screen from Korea, Joseon dynasty.
