Melding background and image, hazy speckles and waves of yellow and white paint, or in thick clumps directly from her tube of paint—overlay a wash of deep brick red, the resulting golden “fizziness” perhaps inspiring this work’s celebratory title. The painting conveys the sense of an artist at the height of her powers, consolidating her resources to create extremely original canvases that are both rigorous and sensuous.
