Design fact : the maatjes collection is inspired by a traditional day in Holland. In the last century, the women were going by bicycle to the port to welcome their man coming back with their boat full of maatjes fishes, they were wearing their most beautiful outfits and jewellery as an expression of their status. I just put the situation in a more contemporary context saying that they were going to this event by motorbike. I loved playing with traditional cuts and custom, mixing it with sporty details like graphic prints, snaps, elastics, technical fabrics... #thestorybehindtheprocess #jeanpaullespagnard #AW13
