Weaning Ayame at the start was quite a struggle. She absolutely hated purées and refused to open her mouth. We tried every kind of vegetable and fruit we could think of with no success. I thought this was going to be an uphill struggle and had prepared myself for a long process of getting her accustomed with solids.
Then one day, when she was sitting on my lap, she reached over and grabbed my chips from my plate and stuffed it in her mouth. Eureka! She had such a cheeky grin on her face. All this time, we thought she needed to be weaned according to the conventional process (baby rice, then purees, etc), but she just wanted to try food in her own time, just the way we eat. I never really thought about #babyledweaning until Ayame showed me that that was exactly what she wanted. Now, she loves dinner time and has become an eating machine! Being able to experience food at the dinner table with her is such a joy. So much so that my partner has started to call her his little Dumpling ????? This process has really reminded me that each baby is different and it's so important to be led by your baby. #babyweaning #weaning
