Grateful.
That’s how I feel today after hosting the screening of @crazyrichasians with my wonderful cohosts last night
(Humberto, Hanya & Tina, we missed you. Thank you for your continued support, and for sharing your platform to advocate with us, despite not being able to attend) because I am able to be of service to a cause that is close to my heart - challenging societal norms to create a diverse, inclusive world where there is a seat at the table for every group that has been underrepresented until now.
A world where all of us are willing to have a conversation & learn from and about each other so we can realise sooner than later that the world is ? time better when it’s colourful.
In the world we live in- one of adversity, and discrimination - creating a cultural dialogue that challenges the norm and educating each other and ourselves is more important than ever. “Crazy Rich Asians” the film does just that. Through its visuals, it challenges the lack of Asian representation in our culture- a culture that has previously typecast, stereotyped, or mis cast us- and better yet, the film represents Asians with humor, intellect, glamour and charm. “Crazy Rich Asians” shifts the needle in the right direction, and I know it is only the start. Together, we can all bring change. We can create a world where our next generation will never have to know the challenges of underrepresentation. I cannot wait to see that day.
So do go out and support this film whether or not you are crazy, rich or Asian ?
