We’re halfway through 2018 and we wanted to give you some new music recs. We won’t bore you with shit you’ve probably already heard or heard about over and over again… We’ll instead focus on 9 records released this year that we love, that you may not have heard yet or even heard of - but you really should. Enjoy! 1. @maxokream - Punken A truly honest record that shines a light on both the good and bad of living with no fucks given. 2. @__amarhylliss__ - Krime Watch Short, yet unsweet, 12 minutes of pure New York hardcore intermixed with upbeat Japanese punk. 3. @cultureabusefanzine - Bay Dream A clean beach/garage rock album with a California summer vibe that's perfect for long car rides, beach days, and hungover mornings. 4. #MachHommy - Bulletproof Luh "Un-love" stories about sexy, intriguing women and why they ain't shit told through vivid and descriptive rap bars. 5. @the_soft_moon - Criminal You can convince yourself the new NIN is on par with Trent's best material or you can put on Soft Moon's latest, which evokes 90's era NIN better than we've ever heard done. An abrasive and intensely emotional record dealing with subjects like drug abuse while maintaining a sick and catchy beat throughout. 6. @edschradersmusicbeat - Riddles This duo has been making catchy songs untethered to any style for a bit. This new album just really upped the ante. By bringing in @dandeacon to co-write and produce, their idiosyncratic new wave tendencies really get brought to the forefront. 7. @mikelikesrap - Black Soap A seven-track work alluding to growth, self-discovery, and cultural pride, while paying homage to his origins through out-of-the-box rhyme schemes and clever bars. 8. @duppy_gun - Miro Tape This is just a fantastic and long mix broken up in two sides of Dancehall meets Dub Techno. Major stoner jams on this one. 9. @jpegmafia - Veteran If you’re willing to let hip-hop take you to strange and harsh realities across a variety of disturbing settings, then step right up. Think Death Grips but with it’s focus shifted firmly to rapping.
