I have been discussing the very distressing situation in the states all week with my American & UK friends. My heart hurts to think of the pain all are experiencing in migration everywhere especially the children . My natural father (indian origin, born & raised in Africa, moved to the UK then Iran) was a refugee who had to leave Iran to the US in the 80’s. I think this shift changed him and his wife and her family for ever.
My family and ancestors have migrated for various reasons all over the world thru time. The links of their cultures, faith, family love, keeping their traditions & embracing the new cultures they have grown in or born into have shaped who they are and thus who I am - First generation born in the UK.
I don’t have the answers however I know this is all going to grow and grow. And we need to take time to consciously educate ourselves so we can support, do and help those fleeing. They don’t choose to leave their homes. They have had to. It’s time we all step up and help humankind not just in posting but in doing ?? together we are stronger to make change.
