The inside of the part we’re building here is so intricate that traditional manufacturing techniques couldn’t make it. But with additive manufacturing, a 3D printer can create the part one detailed layer at a time using metal powder. Swipe to see the piece, which will eventually sit within one of our gas turbines. Its job is to create a seal between the turbine’s spinning blades and the case it fits into, increasing the efficiency of the whole turbine.
