Mariana Yampolsky became the first female member of the Taller de Gráfica Popular (The People’s Print Workshop), a printmaking collaborative dedicated to creating and promoting political art for the masses. Her focus had shifted exclusively to black-and-white photography by the late 1950s, when she was studying under master photographers Lola Álvarez Bravo and Manuel Álvarez Bravo. ⠀
