Therrien isolates recognizable elements and objects from everyday life, imbuing the ordinary with an otherworldly air. His work demonstrates the transformative power of scale and viewpoint, from giant tables and chairs and towering stacks of oversize plates, to drawings of familiar shapes and forms, which he distills and refines to create a lexicon of symbols, both ambiguous and charged with memory.
