“The Girl Can’t Help It” is from a 1985 series titled “Jane” by Alexis Smith. The series focuses on famous women who were named Jane; in this case the piece focuses on Jayne Mansfield. Smith has incorporated a black corset, a Star Map of celebrity homes in Los Angeles, a newspaper article and a found object (a camera). ?
