The book itself, regarded as being in the top 100 English novels of the 20th century is one of the first to employ the stream of consciousness techniques. The term was adopted in the early 1980’s for British bands. The term described bands that seemed to possess rages, depression and alienation and redirect it as raw energy and power together with lyrics that were almost poetic. In that sense, the depression and uneasy story line reflected the book from which it took its name. There were no set parameters for inclusion in the group of bands that were considered “The Sound and the Fury “but we can suggest The Cure, Echo and The Bunnymen, The Sound, The Editors and of course #JoyDivision. #IanCurtis’s Joy Division, one of the great products of The North were pure Sound and Fury. Curtis even wore a T Shirt emblazoned with the moniker at a gig in Paradiso, Amsterdam. The T Shirt had been made by #ZsaZsaLinnemann, who he had met in London. Zsa Zsa had made a t-shirt with the text The Sound and the Fury and Curtis borrowed it for the concert. This was the first and only time that Curtis performed in anything other than a suit and the photo by #LexVanRossen became a classic.
