Happiest birthday to a forever inspiration, a trailblazer, and a brilliant soul, Gloria Steinem.
The incredible Gloria Steinem is someone I have always looked up to, and after reading her book “My Life on the Road,” I felt an even stronger connection.
Soon after finishing her book, I was at “The Color Purple” on Broadway and was lucky enough to meet her and have a conversation. I had never been that nervous about meeting someone in my entire life. She is my hero and I wanted that moment to be everything that I had hoped, and She was. She was everything that I had imagined her to be and more. Inspiring. Empathetic. Compassionate and above all, present. Completely present in the moment. That is what struck me the most.
About a year and a half later, I had the honour of having the woman I so respect and admire attend our Spring 2018 show. That was the ultimate gift.
Thank you, Gloria. Your tenacity, foresight, courage and compassion has created a world of which I want to be a part. It is with honour that I wish you a Happy Birthday. XPG
