One of the most iconic Tartans of all- the Royal Stewart Tartan. As the name suggests, it is known as the personal tartan of Queen Elizabeth II. You're supposedly meant to have the express permission of her Majesty to wear it- and that's what makes this one so special. It's popularity has led it to be used for a whole manner of contrasting purposes and intent. This spectrum begins with Shortbread Biscuit tins and ends with Punks using and subverting the message.
