本物の紳士であるか否かを見極める方法のひとつは、その人物が自宅に入る時、まずなにをするかを視ることだ、と言われたものである。
もし、最初に帽子を脱いだなら、まず本物の紳士であろう。仮に帽子を脱ぐ様子がなかったなら、彼は紳士のふりをしているだけのこと。
では、最初から帽子を被っていない男はどうなのか。本物の紳士どころか、紳士のふりをしようと考えたこともない人物なのである。

One way to figure out whether it is a genuine gentleman or not was told what to do first when that person entered the house. If you first took off your hat, it will be a genuine gentleman first. If he did not take off his hat, he would only pretend to be a gentleman. Then, how about a man who does not cover a hat from the beginning? Far from being real gentlemen, it is a person who has never thought of pretending to be a gentleman.
