Tram 114 has a fascinating history and is one of only two Newcastle tramcars that have survived from the hundreds that once ran in the city.

114 carried the citizens of Newcastle as late as the outbreak of World War Two in 1939, but was, along with others of the same class, sold to Sheffield City Tramways in 1941 to replace trams destroyed in enemy air-raids. The tram was removed from service in the 1950s.
The body of 114 was discovered on a farm near Scunthorpe where it had been used as a chicken shed! In 1987, Beamish started to rebuild the tram, a task which took nine years to complete. Today, you will find 114 carrying visitors around the museum.
